Instructions for Using a DreamCline™ Incline Bed
1. Basic Operation: Raising and Lowering the Bed
- Power On: Ensure the bed is plugged in and the remote is charged or has batteries installed.
-
Using the Wireless Remote:
- Raise the Head of the Bed: Press the upward arrow or the designated button to elevate the head of the bed.
- Lower the Head of the Bed: Press the downward arrow or corresponding button to bring the head section down.
- Preset Buttons: Some remotes may have preset buttons (like “zero-gravity” or “anti-snore”) that adjust the bed to specific inclines.
- Adjust Gradually: Adjust in small increments, testing different heights to find what’s most comfortable (up to 6.5 inches).
- Power Off/Safety Lock (if available): Use the remote's power button or lock function to prevent unintentional movement.
2. Health Benefits of an Incline Bed
- Acid Reflux and GERD: Sleeping with the head raised can prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus, reducing heartburn and reflux symptoms.
- Snoring and Sleep Apnea: Elevating the head reduces airway obstruction, helping to decrease snoring and improve airflow for individuals with sleep apnea.
- COPD and Breathing Issues: An incline position may ease breathing by reducing pressure on the lungs and facilitating better airflow.
- Back Pain Relief: A slight elevation can reduce pressure on the spine, promoting better alignment and easing lower back discomfort.
- Improved Circulation: Elevation can assist with blood flow, helping reduce swelling in the legs and feet.
3. Safety and Usage Tips
- Start Slowly: If you're new to using an incline bed, start with a small elevation (2-3 inches) and gradually increase to your preferred height.
- Experiment with Height: You can raise the head of the bed up to 6.5 inches—find the height that works best for your condition. Too much incline may feel uncomfortable at first, so adjust based on how you feel after a few nights.
- Consult a Doctor: For conditions like sleep apnea, COPD, or severe acid reflux, discuss with your healthcare provider to determine the most effective incline.
- Use a Pillow Adjusted for the Incline: You may need a thinner pillow since the bed is already elevated, reducing neck strain.
- Keep the Bed Clear of Obstructions: Ensure nothing is blocking the bed’s movement to prevent damage or injury.
- Children and Pets: Keep the remote out of reach of children and ensure pets are clear of the bed when adjusting the incline.
- Emergency Lowering: If the bed fails to adjust or becomes stuck, consult the manual for a manual lowering option or troubleshoot with the remote.
Using an incline bed can provide numerous health benefits for conditions such as acid reflux, snoring, sleep apnea, COPD, and back pain. Experimenting with different elevations (up to 6.5 inches) will help you determine what works best for your comfort and health. Always prioritize safety by adjusting the incline gradually and consulting a healthcare professional if you have any medical concerns
